My life seems to be dominated by three lists:
- The things I must do. These include assignments which come with a deadline, going to the grocery store and pharmacy, and so forth.
- Things I really should do. Typically, these are things that do, in fact, have a deadline, but the deadline isn’t pressing. This mainly includes scheduling posts on my other blog which need to be done by sometime in September.
- Things I want to do. At this point the main thing on this list is to create and upload a series of YouTube videos in which I fly Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 2004 to the capitol of each state.
Where I run into a problem is that there are a lot of days where List 1 takes so much of my time that by the time I get to the other two lists, all I really want to do is work on List 3. Typically, this means that items on list two sit and wait until, one by one, they find themselves on List 1.
On the one hand, I suppose it’s at least a step in the right direction that I’ve got things organized into these mental lists. On the other hand, if I had more willpower, I could finish List 1 and List 2 completely and then have more time for List 3. Then again, if I had more willpower, I might not weigh just over 250 pounds and smoke about a pack of cigarettes every day.
