This morning I took the Jeep back to the mechanic and had him look into the problem with the accelerator cable and the air conditioner which is once again blowing hot air.
They took a look at the way the accelerator cable was cobbled together with wire wrapped around the connector and the throttle body and determined that this would, in fact, hold it together for a couple of days while they ordered another cable from the dealership.
Next, they got out the ultraviolet light and looked around the air conditioner hoses and fittings to see if there was evidence of a leak that they missed the last time. Sure enough, one of the hoses is leaking and they’re ordering that from the dealer also.
The guy commented to me,”Well, it’s an older vehicle and its going to have problems.” What bothers me is this: the air conditioning system is 15 years old.
- It develops a leak.
- The leak gets fixed.
- The increased pressure within the system causes another leak.
- repeat until the whole blasted air conditioning system has been replaced.
I really hope that’s just me being paranoid. Either way, I have to have it fixed because I just can’t take the heat. When it gets over about 80 degrees I have trouble breathing.
Cheers,
