Another One Bites The Dust

A lot of people are upset about the Supreme Court’s ruling yesterday upholding the part of Obamacare requiring all U.S. Citizens to purchase health insurance is. I’ve seen a lot of comments about how the Republicans will be able to get it repealed or how Mitt Romney, if elected, will take care of it on his first day in office. The real problem, however, can never be fixed.

The real problem is the precedent set by the ruling. The highest court in the land has decided that it is perfectly fine for the government to decide what kind of car you drive, what kind of cleaning products you use, even what kind of soda you drink should they decide it’s good for you and/or the economy.

I can see the day coming when the government hands down an edict that everyone must purchase a car less than two years old and levies a “tax” on everyone who can’t afford to go buy a new car. Those people who can’t afford the new car or the “tax” are, to put it bluntly, screwed.

The government has been attacking the rights of U.S. citizens for years. This ruling is an attack on the most fundamental of all human rights: the right to choose for oneself.

I can’t help thinking that if the founding fathers were around today we would be in for another revolution. Then again, today’s government would probably label them terrorists and toss ‘em in jail
