I took my Jeep back to the mechanic yesterday because the air conditioner was leaking coolant. He charged it up about a month ago and it was blowing really cold air for about 2 weeks and then it was just moving air without cooling it at all.
Because it was completely out of refrigerant when they charged it the last time, they put an ultraviolet die in with the coolant so that when it all leaked out again they could shine a black light under the hood and see where the leak is. Turns out is was something called a pressure switch leaking. I was told they’d have to order it and it would be in this morning. So, this morning I headed back to the mechanic and they had it fixed and recharged in about 20 minutes. I very nearly got too cold on the way home. That’s a nice feeling on a hot June day in Arkansas!
Again, I’m going to spout good things about my mechanic, because this is the third time in a row the repairs done cost me about half what I expected. Today he decided not to charge me any labor because they just worked on the air conditioner last month. I’m so terribly glad that I have a slightly older vehicle rather than one of those brand new foreign jobs that would require me to find a mechanic with vonage long distance so they could call all over the planet finding parts for it.
