Timing is Everything

Because we have a 4-year old in the house, our television spends a lot of time on channels like Cartoon Network, Nick Jr., and The Hub during the day.

Because one never knows what one might be confronted with on other networks when first turning on the television, we prefer to leave the television on something like Cartoon Network when it gets shut off. That way we aren’t as likely to turn it on and hear things like a woman in an ABC television show yelling, “I will  cut off your penis!” (That actually happened one evening. I wanted to yell, “Quick! Turn it back off!”)

Last evening, we turned on the television for the 10PM news and, apparently, Cartoon Network was showing “Adventure Time” – from what I’ve seen on the commercials, easily one of the five dumbest shows ever written – and the first sound we heard come out of the television was a loud, intimidating voice asking, menacingly, “DOES ANYONE HAVE TO GO PEE PEE?!?!”

We never did hear the news last night. Everyone was laughing about that voice paired with that question, and my wife’s answer, “Well, no, thanks. Not any more.”
