Traitors in my Family Tree

Welcome back!

I was talking to my older sister the other night - online, of course, since she’s now living in South Korea - and she was telling me about some of the genealogy research she’s done on our mother’s side of the family. She’s managed to trace Mom’s ancestry dna back to pre-Revolutionary War Massachusetts. She’s discovered that the reason a lot of Mom’s ancestors come from Canada is because we have ancestors who were …asked to leave… the United States after the Revolutionary War because they were fighting for the wrong side. She claims that somewhere backthere one of our antecedents married a woman who had the last name was Arnold and a brother named Benedict.

It seems that there are Bad Guys On Dad’s side of the family as well. Remember Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Apparently, the Sundance Kid’s grandfather had the same last name as my father, including the unusual misspelling from the original German.

Cool, no?
