What a week it’s been

Does anyone remember the song I’m Driving My Life Away by Eddie Rabbit from the early 1980s? That’s my new theme song.
We got a phone call from Daughter Number Two saying that she didn’t have a ride home for the weekend. Since we were planning on celebrating her grandmother’s birthday on the day before Easter, leaving her at school was not an option. This meant that I had to drive 250 miles (each way) to go get her on Friday and then make an identical trip yesterday to get her back to school. That’s 1,000 miles (give or take) in one weekend.
Tomorrow I’m taking Daughter Number Three to Little Rock (about a hundred miles each way) so she can undergo surgery for her scoliosis. I can really think of things that she and I would both rather be doing … such as milking rattle snakes. Since the recovery will keep her in the hospital for about four days, I’m going to leave it to Daughter Number One to stay with her and then when they’re ready to leave the hospital I’m going to drive back down to get them. That’s four 100-mile trips this week and four 250-mile trips last week.
Here’s hoping the car hold up…
