I’m an addict

Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m just a little bit hooked on Microsoft’s Flight Simulator. I’ve flown a virtual Learjet around the world, taken a Cessna single engine plane into the Grand Canyon, and even tried my hand at flying Lucky Lindy’s Spirit Of Saint Louis (and failed, miserably, by the way).

In my own defense, however, I’m not yet so far gone as to have joined a Virtual Airline. That’s just going too far. To my way of thinking, that takes a hobby and makes it into work and that, in my estimation, takes something away from the hobby.

I had an idea just now. I ran into a website for a virtual airline that allowed anyone to buy a virtual ticket on one of their flights (and pay with “virtual” money - which is the only kind I have on most days). I should get with the owners of that site and start offering their passengers virtual travel insurance for use when flights are delayed or canceled.

I too became obsessed with the Microlost flight sim. Enormously compelling. The virtual travel insurance sounds like a good idea - and what about a virtual drunk passenger causing problems for the flight crew?

I back tracked from your later post of the ridiculous to the sublime. Since these are virtual dollars, could one collect enough to buy a virtual Lear jet? Then that would take one away from the virtual airline back to the virtual Lear jet simulator. Thus completing a virtual full circle.
