Goodbye, Lura

I’ve had a bit of a shock today, so I’m going to apologize in advance if this post tends to ramble a bit or seem just a little incoherent. That’s just how I’m feeling right now.
About four-thirty this afternoon, we got a phone call from my brother saying that his wife (who is my wife’s sister) had collapsed in the hospital and they were moving her to ICU. She had been hospitalized a couple of weeks ago because of a nasty-looking sore on her leg which may have had something to do with the fact that she’s been described as borderline diabetic combined with a fall she took a few weeks back.
The folks at the hospital put some sort of a pump on her leg because the circulation was that bad and they were performing surgery on it every couple of days to remove dead tissue - again, because of the circulation. As recently as yesterday the doctor was telling us how much she’d improved. Today she was being helped back to her bed and she said she was dizzy then collapsed.
My wife started making phone calls asking friends and family to pray for her because we do believe that prayer changes things. Just as she finished the phone calls, my brother called back to say that she had passed away. They worked on her for 30 minutes and they never could revive her.
WHAT THE HELL?! You don’t DIE because you fell and hurt your leg. That’s just not reasonable! My brother and I will be going to the hospital in the morning to collect her belongings and I, for one, want to know what, exactly, happened.
All I can think to say right now is, “Goodbye, Lura. You will be missed.”

Hi Thriell,
My condolences to you and to members of your family.
This is not the first time that I have come to know of such. Several years ago I had a healthy young man of 23 years of age who worked as a messenger/courier at our Office.
He broke his leg in a road accident, was hospitalised at one of the best private hospitals here and corrective surgery was done on his broken leg.
After a week’s stay, he returned home, complained of severe head pains and died the following day.
The family hired a lawyer to investigate and to incriminate the hospital doctor(s) and Staff to no avail. Till today, no one knows what caused the young man’s death.
God Bless you and may the New Year be one of Peace, Love and Happiness.
I checked out your Blog today and was surprised to discover the death of Lura. Even more surprising is I never got an E-mail from you detailing this unfortunate event. My condolences for you and your family.
Sallye lost her husband to diabetes and the hospital. Her thoughts are “if you have a loved one in the hospital, stay with them.”
Write when you have time.
