Please, let the mute guy sleep!
Welcome back!
Monday afternoon I got myself a flu shot. There was a time I’d have laughed at the suggestion, but then there was a time I hadn’t spent the last 11 years taking immuno-suppressants like prednisone.
I thought for a day or so that I could get by without the side effects that flu shots sometimes come with.
WRONG!
I’ve been half asleep for the last three days and today my voice packed up its luggage and caught the last train for the coast. (can you name the reference?) My throat doesn’t hurt at all; I just can’t make any sound come out of it. That, and I still just want to sleep. Until Christmas. Of 2010.
Like I said on my other blog…
Flu. Shots. Suck.

American Pie, Don McLean..Im listening to it right now! Thats kewl.
I don’t get flu shots. I eat right and make sure I stay healthy and then I let my natural immune system take care of any foreign invader. It works every time.
I lived by that same philosophy for the first 33 years of my life. But then my natural immune system went a little haywire and started attacking my blood vessels (vasculitis) and my joints (rheumatiod arthritis) so I had to start taking medication to SUPPRESS my natural immune system.
With a deliberately-weakened natural immune system, the occasional bit of extra help from a flu shot is a necessary evil.
I know having a flu is tough. But thank God it is not deadly, just that you have to go through it.
