Separated At Birth #13: Martha Corrine Walton and Emperor Palpatine

Welcome back!

I noticed this the other evening while watching The Waltons with the kids. In the episode titled The Pony Cart the Waltons get a visit from Grandpa Walton’s sister-in-law, Martha Corrine (played by Beulah Bondi).
The 90-year old Martha Corrine looks amazingly like the Emperor from the Star Wars movies. Given that Star Wars takes place “a long time ago”, my theory is that Emperor Palpatine must be a distant ancestor of Martha Corrine. That’s the only possible explanation for the family resemblance.

That’s freaky. I used to play the theme song from the Waltons on the Trumpet and any mention of the show reminds me of the sound. I wonder if we’re going to look like that.

How very uncanny… With a little work in adobe photoshop, you could depict a Mother-Son reunion…

    Maybe I will?

    Thanks for the laugh,

Yeah if you put that bonnet on Emperor Palpatine I bet the Walton family wouldn’t even notice a difference at the dinner table. I can picture John boy saying ” you sure do make a great potato salad Grandma!” That would make for a good spoof like Space Balls.
