Mobile homes are HOW sturdy?
The other night the local news ran some article talking about all the recent severe weather we’ve had and discussing the improvements in the way mobile homes are built compared to how they used to be a few decades ago. They interviewed some guy who swears that “manufactured homes” today are every bit as safe in a tornado as conventional housing. I don’t believe that for a nanosecond.
It got me to thinking about my neighbor’s mobile home. See, when they moved the mobile home in, the land wasn’t even close to level and no effort was made to level the land. Instead, one end of the mobile home is propped up on a 5-foot stack of cinder blocks. You couldn’t convince me to even set foot in that place. I can just see myself sitting in the living room when a strong gust of wind blows by and suddenly I have a lap full if dining room furniture
