More EntreCard changes
I mentioned a few days ago that EntreCard had recently put in a change that limited all their users to dropping 600 cards per I.P. address per day. Well, the next day they put in another change. This one is really confusing some people. The old system was simple. The price someone paid to advertise on your blog was based on how many people dropped cards on your blog. Take the last five days worth of incoming drops, calculate the average, and double it. That’s your price.
The new system says that the cost is based on how many people are waiting in line to advertise on your blog already. Everybody starts with a cost of two credits and the price doubles for every person in line. For example, as I write this, there are 8 people waiting on my blog. That means that right now the cost to advertise on my EntreCard widget is 2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2 or 256 credits.
Because they didn’t clear out all the ad queues before putting this change into effect, there were some blogs in their system with 18 ads in their ad queue, so their price shot up to 262,144 credits for a 24-hour ad! This is already beginning to correct itself, because the price will cut in half every day nobody buys an ad.
I was just sitting here thinking that if they keep making changes that are that drastic, one might be able to set up a very lucrative business as an EntreCredit futures broker

Not sure I’m liking this new system - the most popular blogs will do so much better and the rest get left behind… or maybe I’m wrong… I dunno..
Thanks for explaining it - I was too lazy to go and check.

Futures brokers…funny. Entrecard now trades on the options market.
Who has time to drop 600 cards in a day? I do 20 and think it’s a marvel.
No wonder my traffic hasn’t increased.
I prefer the old system. But i think the not so popular blogs benefit from this because the prices are not calculated anymore in the number of drops a blog received but based on the number of ads it gets. So even if you’re not that popular your price can even go as higher than the top 30 popular sites.
Before, i try to drop 300 cards a day, but with the recent changes, i just experimented of not dropping for 2 days, and my price even got higher!
