Yesterday’s missing post

You probably noticed, if you’re a regular to this end of the internet, that I didn’t get anything posted yesterday. You can blame that on my gall bladder - or, more accurately, my lack thereof.

I had it removed about 5 years ago when it simply quit working. I remember when the doctor saw it on an x-ray: “My God. It’s full of sludge”. Sort of reminds me of Dave Bowman from the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Anyway…

Since they removed my gall bladder, the only time I have a problem is when I eat pork fat or pork products that are hard to digest. I managed to forget this little bit of trivia the other day when I was served this absolutely delicious ham that had a tough rind on it. I didn’t think to cut that off and instead chewed through it anyway.

About halfway through the next day I felt like I had spend the night swallowing used cisco networking cables. (Like new ones would have been better to swallow, I know.)

From there it doesn’t get very pretty. I was up most of the night with stomach cramps that my pregnant daughter could sympathize with, I couldn’t eat for about 24 hours, and I lost what I had eaten before that.

But, I’m feeling much better now. :)

Besides, I lost 5 pounds yesterday. :D

That is actually the ultimate in “looking at the bright side”.
