Separated At Birth #11: Two Different HOUSES?

I know I’m really stretching it putting this as a “Separated At Birth” post when I’m talking about inanimate objects. I thought it was funny. You’ll have to excuse my somewhat bent sense of humor.

The usual instructions apply: click the thumbnail for the full-size picture.

This is from Star Trek: The Next Generation’s episode 49, “The Ensigns Of Command” (airdate 30 Sep 89). The house belongs to the woman who’s trying to help Data convince the colonists that they’re all going to be killed if they don’t leave the planet.

This house is from Star Trek: The Next Generation’s episode 51, “Survivors” (airdate 7 Oct 89). It is the only structure left standing on a planet attacked by a hostile race.

It’s amazing that two different people, one of whom isn’t even human, would live in such similar houses, isn’t it?

  • They have wall-hangings in the same places.
  • Next to the stairs, one has what looks like some sort of modern art, and the other has a plant in the same spot.
  • On the other side of the stairs (left side of the picture), one has a plant and the other has what looks like bookshelves in the wall.

I understand about TV series’ budgets and the need to re-use sets occasionally, but I’m asking you to understand that these two episodes originally aired 1 week apart. Really, the least they could have done was put more space between these episodes.
