I’ve been working on the new blog
I spent a good part of this morning working on setting up another blog I intend to start maintaining. I’m not going to give out it’s name or URL yet because at the moment there’s nothing there.
This new blog is going to be specifically about cameras, camera accessories, and photography. My wife found a wordpress theme that worked perfectly for it. It was a two-column theme with an image of a camera in the top part of the page. The only problem was that about two-thirds of the screen real estate was colored baby-puke green.
I started out thinking, “okay, go into the style sheet, find the background color for that column and change it. Yeah, right. This is my life. Nothing is ever that easy. Turns out that the background for the columns is in three images: One for the header, one for the body (which is repeated down the page) and one for the footer. The body and the footer images were easy enough to change, but the header image had that camera overlapping the column I wanted to change.
I managed to carefully select around the camera and get just the right column, then change the hue, saturation, and brightness on just the selected area.

Here’s a picture of what I’m trying to say:

All that purple used to be a nasty shade of green.

I’m very pleased with myself at the moment.
