I am so disgusted
Welcome back!
I am so completely underwhelmed that you just wouldn’t believe it.
You see that banner at the top of the page? Yeah, that’s the one… it says “bidvertiser” on it. You know that other one that’s in my sidebar and marked “Ads by Google”? Well, I didn’t just put those on this site because I liked the look of them. I’ll be perfectly frank. I’m on a fixed income and hosting a website isn’t free, so I put in Google Adsense on February 26, 2006 in the hopes of getting the blog to help pay for itself. That’s been 19 months. The Bidvertiser banner went in on June 27, 2007 - almost 4 months ago.
I’ve seen posts on other blogs disclosing how much they’ve made from all the different ways they’ve monetized their blogs. These people report earning at least a couple of dollars a month from Google Adsense.
I wish.
In the 19 months that I’ve had google’s ads on my blog, I’ve earned a grand total of $3.56. That’s an average of 18.7 cents per month. Now, bearing in mind that I won’t actually see one red cent of that until it hits $50, that should only take another 20 years before I get my first $50 check.
Assuming I live that long (neither of my parents lived to the age of 63) then by that time, $50 might buy me a meal at McDonald’s - if I dine alone.
Oh, I almost forgot… the Bidvertiser banner, after four months, has generated 15 cents - or 3.75 cents per month. Now, Bidvertiser has a $10 payout, so I should see actual cash from them in just about another 21 years. By that time I’m thinking $10 might pay for a couple of large Cokes from the aforementioned burger joint.
Can anybody explain to me why I’m continuing to let these items take up real estate on my blog? ‘Cause I sure don’t understand it myself.
