Miss me?
Welcome back!
You may or may not have noticed I’ve been gone in my absence for a while.
I just finished a 5-day stay in the hospital because of pneumonia. What I find disgusting is the fact that my 79-year-old mother in law was also down with pneumonia last week and she kicked it in 1/2 the time it took me!
I did get some satisfaction though.
I had a doctor ask me why I was taking blood thinners with tissue valves. I explained that my surgeon wants me to. He, and two other doctors, did a bunch of research while I was there and verified what I’ve been saying for two years. The only reasons for taking blood thinners when you have pericardial tissue valves like mine are:
- if you have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart beat) which I don’t
or - if you experience heart failure (decreased pumping ability) which I don’t.
The end result is that I now have actual orders from actual doctors saying I don’t have to take blood thinners!
