The oldest daughter is home from college for the weekend and the very first thing she asked me was for help getting her new laptop connected to our wireless network so she could get on the internet. She asked me this on the phone when I was 200 miles away, then got annoyed when I told her I couldn’t get it set up over the phone while driving. I didn’t ask her this, but I found myself wondering, “what’s the hurry that you can’t wait 3 hours? Got an online dating site you’re anxious to get to?”

I’m rather glad I didn’t spout that over the phone. It would have resulted in a long dissertation on how she has no trouble at all finding a date and how she knows plenty of singles

There are times, though, when I wonder if I don’t have a whole brood of internet junkies. Yes, I spend a lot of time online, but my internet activities are generally more productive that visiting places like youtube and neopets.

I’d better shut up now before I get ALL the kids mad at me.
