Trivia for 9/2/2007
Welcome back!
* If the government has no knowledge of aliens, then why does Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, implemented on July 16, 1969, make it illegal for US citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles?
Having looked up that reference on Snopes, I should remove this post. Instead, I’m going to tell you what I learned just now.
First off, that law was removed from the books in 1991.
Secondly, it had nothing to do with the Men In Black hauling you to jail if E.T. landed in your back yard. It had more to do with the government requiring you to undergo a quaranteen if you were to either visit another planet (or moon) or come in contact with someone who had (or their ship). This was mainly in the interest of avoiding possible contamination from unknown micro-organisms that might live in foreign atmospheres (a la Michael Crichton’s 1969 novel The Andromeda Strain.)
Kinda takes all the fun out of that trivia post, don’t it?

Very interesting fact. I was thrown off by the first line
The logic behind the law makes sense, but the wording reeks of conspiracy
