The (Other) End of the Internet

Welcome back!

The UPS lady showed up this afternoon with the much-awaited white box. Inside the white box was a DSL modem/router, four phone line filters, three different cables, and a setup CD.

I got all the hardware put together in relativly short order and the little black DSL box is sitting on top of my tower case with an ethernet cable connecting it to my computer. My daughter’s notebook PC was able to see the wireless network, but there’s still something I need to do so she can share files with this machine.

The actual DSL service won’t be connected until Thursday evening, if you believe the person on the phone, or Friday afternoon, if you believe the paperwork in the box.

I feel like a teenager who was just handed the keys to an Indy car that has no fuel.

Sigh.
