No more hot linking…

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You know, there aren’t that many pictures on this blog. Also, the pictures that are here aren’t all that big.

Given that, I think it’s really pathetic that people don’t have the common sense or common courtesy to copy the images to their own hosting provider instead of hotlinking them and letting me eat the cost of bandwidth that they’re using.

In an effort to nip this in the bud before it becomes a real problem, I’ve modified my .htacess file so that if you’re not on a small “white list” I’ve put together, then hotlinking an image will not get you the image you’re after. Instead, you’ll get this image of my own design:

Unfortunately, this means that most RSS readers are probably going to get this image instead of the one intended. All I can do is suggest that if you’re interested in seeing the images that go with a post, then you’re going to have to view this blog in your browser … sans RSS reader … until I either do something else or add all the RSS readers on the planet to my white list.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!
