The state of Massachusetts recently passed a law requiring all residents to carry health insurance. If they don’t, then they get hit with a tax penalty at the end of the year. That is so totally unfair! What about people like my daughter who would be required to have the insurance because she’s over 18, but unable to afford it because she works 2 days a week at a low-paying fast-food joint? What about people like my mother-in-law who is in her seventies, on a fixed income, and has COPD? If she lived in Massachusetts and couldn’t find some sort of no exam life insurance she’d be screwed!
