The Vacationers

I used to know these people who were always going away on Hawaiian Vacations. This wasn’t just an occasional thing for them, or even a once-a-year thing, for that matter. This family would pack up and hit the beach about every two or three months and they’d stay gone for a couple of weeks at a stretch.

At first, I really wondered how they could afford that, but then I found out that their family had been involved in the oil business for several generations. Except for the frequent vacations, they lived just like any average middle-class family. They had a small three-bedroom home in an “okay” neighborhood, drove a beat-up station wagon, and bought most of their clothes at the local discount superstore.

They didn’t even splurge when booking their vacations, either. They booked them with Hawaiian Beach Rentals.

I wonder if I’m too old for them to adopt me? I’m only in my early forties…
