Did we forget the meaning of ‘illegal’?

I’m sure by now that everyone reading this has heard the debate about illegal immigration and what to do with the seemingly never-ending stream of illegal aliens in this country.
There are two camps in this issue. One group of people wants a to find a way for the aliens to remain here legally and the other side wants to ship the ot of them back where they came from.
I realize the logistical problem of rounding up however-many-hudred-million illegal aliens there are in this country, and I know that - legally or not - these people hold jobs and that there is a school of thought that says that sudden jump in unemployment would cripple our economy. I think sending all the illegal aliens home would have the opposite effect on the economy.
Think about it. The unemployment rate that’s talked about on the news is based on the number of people who have filed an unemployment insurance claim. That act requires documentation to prove you’re in the country legally. By definition, an illegal alien can’t get it. What would happen if the illegal aliens were magically all transported back to their countries of origin is that a whole bunch of jobs would open up and the legal residents of this country who are unemployed would be able to find work and the unemployment rate would go DOWN.
Those people who argue for keeping the illegal aliens in this country should keep in mind that the word “ILLEGAL” means that those folks are BREAKING THE LAW! That’s like arguing that all the car-jackers should be allowed to keep whatever car they have in their possesion right now.
