More confusing doctor-related stuff…

I saw my family doctor today to talk about last week’s trip to the cardiologist. Last week, the cardio-guy said, simply “you’ve got a valve leaking” and muttered something I couldn’t quite hear about another valve being partially blocked. (This was a week or two after a test looking specifically for blockages found nothing.)
Today, my family doctor had the cardio’s notes. He told me that the notes indicated severe mitral regurgitation and severe mitral stenosis. I told Dr. S. that I didn’t care one iota for the cardiologist, so he said he was going to set me up to see the surgeon who worked on me two years ago.
The surgeon’s office kept going back and forth with Dr. S.’s
people, saying I needed a cardiologist to refer me to a surgeon and that Dr. S. is an internal medicine guy, not a cardiologist.
Eventually, I was given an appointment for June 19 at noon to get a TEE (Trans-Esophagial Echocardiogram) That’s when they put the ultrasound microphone thungumy halfway down my throat, point it to the left, and get a really clear look at my heart valves. Had it done once before, back in ‘05.
Thirty minutes after I got home, I get a phone call from the
cardiologist’s guy saying that I have “trace to mild regurgitation” in my mitral valve, “severe insufficiency” in my aortic valve, and”severe regurgitation” in my tricuspid valve (which is still original equipment) and and he tells me I’m going to see HIM at noon on the 19th for a TEE test.
So, yes, I’m going to have the test. I’m just a little unclear as to where and I’ve got conflicting reports as to WHY.
For those who are keeping traxk, that’s =3= different reports from the same cardiologist on the same test results in one week.
