More investigation (and hard drive switching) has revealed that the bios on this new machine is old enough that there’s a reasonable shot that it’ll never be able to see all of an 80gig drive. That is apparently the reason for the “NTLDR is missing” message. It can see the directory entry, but when it comes to looking at the physical area of the drive where the file is stored, this computer says there ain’t no such place.
Now I only hope that I haven’t trashed either the drive or the partition table by writing on it with a computer that couldn’t see all of its geometery!
As if waiting on the Postal Oraface isn’t bad enough, tomorrow is Sunday - no deliveries! WHAAAAAAAAA!
