A review of justsayhi.com

I haven’t had a lot of experience with online dating sites - what with being happily married, and all - so when I was asked to review http://www.justsayhi.com/vs/eharmony I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect.

I was relieved to see that the site’s administrators seem to make an effort to keep the raunchy comments out of the public view - something which doesn’t make the people sending me SPAMs for other online dating services think twice. Another plus is that I was only gifted with one pop-up instead of the five or so that I expected - although I don’t understand why this pop-up was a miniature blank page.

Since I’m still on a dial-up connection (broadband is not yet available at this end of the internet) I was glad to see that http://www.justsayhi.com/vs/eharmony didn’t include a bunch of huge images that would take my 56K modem 20 minutes to download. It’s amazing how many webmasters build their sites on the assumption that everyone can download 1 Megabyte in just a few seconds. It takes me 5 to 10 minutes to do that.

But I digress…

The main point of the web page at http://www.justsayhi.com/vs/eharmony seems to be “we’re better than eharmony.com because we’re free” followed by pictures and profiles of some of their members. Frankly, some of those guys look like people I’d hate to meet in a dark ally and I found it interesting that two of the women pictured insisted on holding their heads at the same strange tilt - it looks like someone had to break their necks to get the picture taken.

All in all, from what I could tell of the site from that one page (I’m not signing up to investigate further - reference the “happily married” comment earlier) it seems to be a viable way to meet people - if you’re THAT incapable of shutting off the computer and going somewhere to meet people IN PERSON.
